Q: 2005 Mazda 3 wont start?
MY 2005 mazda 3 won't start. the starter spins but the engine never fires. Could this be as simple as a low battery?
A: Battery sounds fine.
Try again, remove a couple spark plugs and inspect condition.
If they are "wet" then you are getting fuel but no spark.
Check the ignition wires and the 12v supply to the coil.
If they are dry then you may not be getting fuel, may be the fuel pump.
Your timing belt may be broken.
Remove the oil filler cap and use a flashlight to inspect the movement of the camshaft under the cover. When the car is cranking over you should see the camshaft moving. If it is not then you have a timing belt that has to be replaced for the engine to start.
You need compression.
You need fuel.
You need air.
You need spark.
If you take away one of these four items then the car will not ever start. Start with the basics.
Q: When I hit the breaks on my 2005 Mazda 3, my car turns off.?
When I am just city driving, and get to any full stop, my car shuts off, the check engine light comes on and the tachometer fluctuates before the car shuts off. I have to restart the car everytime. Does anyone know what is wrong with my car? I just changed my battery a year ago. I'd rather not take it into a shop if its something minor someone on here can help me with. Thanks!
A: This could probaly be anything from a bad transmission to a more indeph bad torque convertor as one of the guys mentioned above. When your car comes to a stop, the car's torque convertor isn't doing its job right and not shifting into manual. As in a car with a stick shift, the car will stall up and your engine will automatically shut off.
Q: 2005 Mazda 3, OBD 2 or CAN?
How can I be sure if my 2005 Mazda 3 is OBD 2 or CAN diagnostic system??
It does not start, I check the starter, fuses, and relays. When I try to use my generic OBD 2 scanner, it does not detect the PCM. Is it my scanner or the PCM???
The scanner I use it every day on my shop. This is the first time on a 2005 Mazda.
And no, the immobilizer light does go off after 3 or 4 sec with the ignition on.
A: CAN.I had a 2003 Mazda 6 last week. The Generic OBDII won't communicate until using another one with CAN software. If the car has a 2.3L engine, watch valve timing and intake runner control valve for no start problem.
Q: my automatic mazda 3 2005 won't change gear and shut off. what is wrong with it?
My car had no problem, until i changed the battery and ever since, I noticed that whenever I slow down the gear won't change and stay at 3 or 4 and then the car will start shaking and it will stop, and i have to restart my car. It doesn't happen all the time, and when i gradually step on the brake and press gently, it doesn't shut off, although it still jerks a little. Can someone tell me what could be the problem? thanks
A: Maybe the battery change gave your ECU a "brain-fart". Power surges and odd electrical events can sometimes do that to a cars computer.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes or so to drain any charge left in system capacitors. Then reconnect and start the car. Just let it idle for 5 - 10 minutes to allow the computer to re-initiate cleanly.
Then see if things are any better. If not, you may need to go to a dealer. If your transmission is computer controlled it may have been damaged from a surge.
Q: break pads replacing for 2005 mazda 3 , 2.3 hatchbacks.?
I'm replacing break pads on my rear wheels for 2005, 2.3 Mazda3 hatchbacks. The old pads have be taken out. However, the break fluid cylinder is in the way for the new break pads and the router. I loosen up the break fluid screw, but the cylinder is really really hard to be compressed. So, how can I compress the cylinder so I can have space for my new pads and router?? Thank you~!!
A: usually there is a special tool for that. Call a rental company.
PS...BRAKES
Q: 2005 mazda 3?
i have a virtually brand new 05 mazda 3 2.3s it has 1300 miles on it. it has a sulfur smell to the exhaust in which i can smell in normal driving without straining the engine or shifting at high rpm's. at first i thought it was a bad caddalittic converter but i took it to get a emission test and it showed that it was perfect. and i am using 91 octane gas from chevron (supposably the best gas you can get without the sulfur) and it is still smelling like this. the dealer says it is normal but i think that is bull shit. also i was thinking about changing the spark plugs (even though it only has 13,000 miles) i heard that it might change it...
does anyone know what could be the problem?
i have already driven it over 5K miles
oops, i just realized i put 1,300 instead of 13,000 sorry guys =[
A: You know, I have a mazda 3 and I've noticed that smell too. It hasn't happened lately but that has happened on two seperate occasions. It's really strange. I haven't had any other problems with my car besides that. (It's a Mazda 3s 2.3 2005). Oh by the way, you don't need to use anything higher than 87 (although some people would like to think so). Refer to your handbook.
Q: 2005 Mazda 3-Can I get keyless entry?
Just wondering if anybody knows if my car will be able to get keyless entry? I know there is a more expensive and time consuming way to get keyless entry by having it wired into your car, but I was told that some cars are keyless entry capable and you just have to go to the dealership and purchase the "beeper" as I call it.......lol Does anybody know how I can find out about this? Thanks
A: Yes, your car can get keyless entry. It just depends on what route you want to take. You can go onto ebay and find a kit for your car, or dealers usually have connections to businesses that can install a system comparable to factory keyless entry systems.
It's all up to you.
Q: 2005 Mazda 3, has trouble starting after gasing up...?
It has done this a few times and the check engine light is now on. Other than this small problem the car runs as it has always ran Any ideas of the problem?
A: Not really descriptive.
Sounds like possibly the starter getting heat soaked. But again, not enough information given.
After you fill it up with gas does it crank and just not start? What exactly does it do when you try to start it?
Q: 2005 (55) Mazda 3 - A good used car option?
Looking at a 2005 (55) Mazda 3 1.6 TS as a used car.
It's blue, a very bright blue, manual gearbox, 35k miles, fully serviced and looks very smart.
All for 4,300 - from a big garage as well.
A good used car buy? Good price? A reliable, trustworthy car for a used option?
Are Mazda's a good option? Tell me!
A: I have an 05 mazda6 . manual transmission. It is reliable. the engine sounds under powered, the 2.3 litre engine is the better choice. But thats your call if you feel it is powerful enough for you.
Mazda 3 are a good reliable car. But every maker has lemons. Be sure to get it checked by another mechanic you trust as a second opinion. Look for hidden damage (accidents), rust, leaks. ect.
Q: Can my Mazda 3 2005 pull a Uhaul trailer 5x8?
moving from FL to Colorado. I have a mazda 3 2005 automatic and need to know if I can pull a Uhual trailer 5x8 with my car? Ive read about weights and such but Im not understanding. I know I will have to get an attachment hitch for my car. Its a 28 hour drive. The trailer would be filled with some boxes and a full size bed& mattress(very light frame), desk(wood), dresser(wood).
Any insight would be great. Thank you
A: If you read your owners manual Im sure it says not to tow anything. Thats what the manual in my mazda 6 says anyways. Seriously its not worth it.
U-haul sucks anyways. its cheap but unsafe. Check this out before you rent: http://uhaul.pissedconsumer.com/

Q: should i sell my 2005 honda and get a 2005 mazda 3???
A: 4 answers so far, and only the 4th one makes half sense to me at least. Mazda's aren't a step below Honda except in the area of depreciation. None of us can actually answer your question since you didn't say what model Honda you have. However, the idea of selling a relatively new car to buy another relatively new car is a bit absurd unless you simply don't like your Honda...apparently that is the case if you are asking this question. I can agree with these folks that I would not buy an RX-8 until it gets a real engine, but the 3, 5 or 6 are very nice cars.
