Q: im thinking of getting a 2006 mazda 3. is that a good choice or what?
i want a cute but classy looking car thats affordable what should i get?

A: The Mazda 3 is a great choice! I have an '07 and I love it. It does not get as many miles per gallon as a Civic but the 3 has alot more power. I average with mine around 27mpg. One thing I would advise... if I were you I would definately go with the manual five speed transmission. Having the manual will give you alot more control over the engine so you can get by with the more effecient 2.0 engine. Other wise they are great cars... the interiors are very well designed, the ride is smoother than other cars in its class (though more road noise than other economy cars), the engine is very responsive, smooth, quiet and efficient. Definately a good choice. Go Mazda!

Q: Can a "short block" repair be done to a 2006 Mazda 3?
Dealer saying I need a new engine...

A: Depends on what's wrong with the car. If anything in the head is damaged a short block repair won't fix it. Also the cost of removing the head to do the short block may cost more than the engine anyhow and you would be better off with a new engine.

Q: 2006 Mazda 3 A/C kit?
I bought a 2006 mazda 3 with 12k miles, but it came from up north and it did not come with factory airconditioning. Does anyone know where i can get an a/c kit for an 06 Mazda 3??? Please HELP!

A: you cant buy aftermarket air con. it must be factory fitted. hope this helps mike

Q: I have 2006 Mazda 3 w/ 2.3L engine. I have Fugita Cold Air Intake but I will an free flowing exhuast help?
Will a free flowing Exhaust help the fuel mileage. I'm thinking yes.

A: the problem with the CHEAP intake like yours is they are made in stainless steel with no heat insulation, that means the stainless will absorb all the heat from the engine and the heat trapped in the intake make the air travel with the oxygen dispersed making the engine spend more fuel to work and free flowing exhaust..... well if you are planning the complete exahust from header to the pipe will be ok, you will gain a few HP more but since you are talking about the very last seccion of the exhaust (the muffler) replacing it for a free flow will do nothing but spend more money with no use the last seccion of the exaust is only for noise not performance, the mufflers companys make fool the people telling you can gain 20HP they are not lying at all but they are not telling for gain that ridicolous HP you will need a turbo or any other heavy racing mood to make the difference by switching to the new muffler and dont expect to gain more fuel economy buying cheaps things on the market just kept this in mind, do you thing those wimpy companies will beat the tons of engineers of mazda in fuel economy with a crap they anounce to save fuel? NO NO to insolate your intake buy thermotec is the same thing uses on racing headers, but this time use it on your intake pipe that will insolate extremely well the pipe from the heat

Q: 2006 Mazda 3 trade in value ?
I'm shopping for a new car and want to trade in my 06 Mazda 3. It has 26600 miles, standard transmission, AC but no power locks or windows. Kelley Blue Book and NADA both say around $9000 or so depending on the condition (which is good). Does this seem reasonable or too optimistic?

A: Fora change, those values are not far off. Manheim Auctions is a dealer-only auction. They are the place many trades wind up. A used car dealer has to buy a car at, or just under MMR (Manheim Market Report) for it to make sense. According to MMR - a 2006 Mazda 3 has an average auction price of 10,155. I assume most of the cars are better equipped than your base model though. I adjust that down about $500 for the extras to get a projected MMR of approx 9600.00. So a dealer would want to buy that car for no more than about 9200 to be on the safe side and allow for in-house reconditioning. So - $9000 is not far off.

Q: i cant get my steering wheel unlocked its a 2006 mazda 3?

A: There is a small slot some where near the shifter, usually a key is used or a small screw driver to push the release, also make sure there is no load on your steering wheel, turn it back and forward while trying to shift, also make sure you foot is on the brake, all of these are linked together. The wheel sometimes, is pushing on the lock so as I said make sure it's moved a bit to give some slack, I hope that is help full.

Q: how can you tell if your 2006 mazda 3 is 2.3liter engine or 2.0?
its bright red automatic non power windows anyone know wut the difference is except the engine type? i need to know whether mine is 2 or 2.3

A: non power windows=2.0L. When you look under the hood, it says 2.0 or 2.3 on the engine. If it was the 2.3L, it would also say 2.3 on the side of the car. You would have larger wheels(without hubcaps), power windows and locks and mirrors, and darkened tail lights.

Q: is there a way to install subs with an amp to a 2006 mazda 3 with a stock audio system?

A: You can.. although I wouldnt reccomend it. You have to get converter. Its a box that is like 3"x2". You tap into the neg and pos from both the left and the right rear speakers. I wouldnt reccomend it because, you have no control over the audio like you would with an after market radio. With the after market radio, you can turn all the bass off to the front and rear speakers so you have only Highs inside the car.. and lows coming from the subs. i would invest in a new deck with preamp out puts. It will make you music sound much better, and it will be easier to install

Q: 2006 Mazda 3?
The air conditioner in my Mazda 3 does not work like it should. Some days it works great. Other days it doesn't cool very well. Sometimes on the first two fan settings it makes a faint rattle noise and on one occassion the fan completely stopped working but then worked the next day. I've taken to the Mazda dealership 3 times and everytime they say it's fine. I know there is something wrong with it. I will be traveling a lot in the next few weeks and really wanted it fixed before then and before the warrenty runs out. Any suggestions on how to get something done. It doesn't do it all the time so when I take it to the dealership they tell me they can't fix it or find out what it is unless it's doing it right then.

A: The flap design may help prevent heater core failure, but they need to better isolate the hot water from the passenger compartment & HVAC system! Here in Texas we have temps in excess of 100F! The A/C is marginal in 85-90F weather. I have a Maxima and the air works great. But my husbands A/C in the 06 Mazda3 is not as cool. Mazda must have some poor engineers if they can't design a decent A/C system. It probably wouldn't bother me so much if they admitted it, but people keep being told everything is fine . Make sure that the air is being circulated. The is a control under the air temp settings. Three buttons A/C, the 2 air direction buttons, and the defoster. Make aure the A/C button lights up and the left air direction button (the arrow show air circulating). The other button just brings in air and doesnt continuously cool it.

Q: i have a 2006 mazda 3 and i think my heater fan is going out how much will it cost?

A: This will be no charge to you your warranty is 4 year and 50,000 miles bumper to bumper with road side assistance and rental car!!!!! I sale Mazda's by the way!

Q: whats the kelly blue book value for a 2006 mazda 3 five door with around 17,000 miles?

A: you will have to go to www.kbb.com and do this yourself. Nobody can do it for you as we don't know what features you have on the car.

Q: Nissan Altima 2.5 lit 2003 or Mazda 3 - 2006?
I am getting a Nissan Altima (2.5 Lit) for 12500 K with 85000 kms (2003) and a Mazda 3 (2.0 Lit) 2006 with 54000 kms with almost the same price. Could any one advise which one would be a better bet for a long term use with durability stability. Thank you

A: I own a Nissan and a Mazda and I can tell you that they are both pretty big performers. However, these specific models that you are looking at are in two different classes. The Nissan is a much bigger car in the semi-premium car class. Keep in mind that it has more power (175hp I-4), but requires premium fuel and gets a max of 12.3km/L hwy. The Mazda straddles the line of sport-compact and economy car. It has excellent power for it's size (in both the 150hp i and the 160hp s) yet at the same time delivers 14.9km/L (i) or 13.6km/L (s). As far as looks go, in my humble opinion the Mazda3 takes home the gold compared to MANY cars out there. It's a beauty. The Altima will offer you more room for cargo or passengers though. As far as dependability goes, both of these cars should give you 480000 kms = YEARS and years of reliability. Ultimately, if I had the choice, I would go with the Mazda. Good luck to you though! And happy car shopping!

Q: Does anyone own a 2006 Mazda 3? How do you like it....pros and cons please??

A: I bought one in April, 2006. I have about 7800 miles on it. Consumer Reports rated it second to Honda Civic(by just a hair) as far as reliability goes. I have the 5 door hatchback "s" model. It has more power and I got the 5 speed "triptronic" tranny. That is a 5 speed automatic; and youcan go to manual where you just tap the shifter to shift. Really neat. Consumer Reports tested 5 hatchbacks in August edition. Mazda 3, Audi 3, Saab ?, and 2 dodge chargers. Mazda was at the top of the list. Really REALLY fun to drive (to quote Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" it handles like it's on rails). I live on a roller coaster(hilly twisty road) and get 27+ mpg(I tend to be sorta heavy footed)
