Q: i bought a 2005 mazda rx8 is this a quality vehicle?
A: Sure as long as you realize it takes a lot more maintenance than most cars due to the engine. Don't forget the mileage will be horrible and that has nothing do to with a problem.
Q: mazda rx8 should i buy the car (buying help)?
ok so i am selling my car i currently own a 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse gs and when i bought it it had 89,000 miles on it i bought it a little over a year ago around Feb... i put a lot of money into that car and it still sometimes scares me into thinking it needs more work i knows going to be an ongoing problem so i sold it as is ... but now im onto a new car i don't know what to get ....
i was looking at a Mazda RX8 2005
its black leather inside .. but that's not my question its got 59,000 miles on it and its selling for 14995 now this is a fairly decent car to insure and also a fair price i know i can talk him down ..... but my question is rotary engines i don't know much about them i hear good and bad things. online people say it can run to 150,000+ miles if you maintain it but what does that mean does that mean i am going to have to sink money in it like its my job like i did with the other car or does that mean that i just shouldn't beat up on it like gun it down every street and drive it like a you know what
also is that too many miles for me to buy it because i want to do some work to it but like body work like put u know rims on it maybe or spoiler... also like maybe idk some minor things anyway i guess my basic question is like this
1) is the car reliable
a) can i depend on it for trips down to the beach
b) for just casual driving
c) on a daily basis
2) is it worth the money even at 13/14k
3) do you think that 59,000 miles on a Mazda rx8 from 2005 is too much for me to do anything too or should i just keep it as is
4) how can i tell if somethings wrong with the car or needs replacing since rotary engines are much different
thank you very much
A: Mechanically RX8's seem to do better-than-average for most maintenance. Like any car out there some may have more problems than others, but overall they seem to have few issues with anything other than the rotary engine.
Now, on to the rotary. I would say most problems with the engine are due to un-knowledgeable owners. There's really nothing "special" to taking care of a rotary engine, but knowing how the motor works and its strengths and weaknesses can keep you going for 200,000+ miles.
A lot of attention needs to be paid to the motor oil. The motor uses an oil injection system (squirts it right into the combustion chambers) to lubricate the apex and side seals so this leads to important maintenance points.
1) Change your oil frequently, every 3000 miles. This ensures the oil injection system is using clean oil.
2) Check oil levels frequently since some is being consumed.
3) Stay away from synthetic oils. You need the oil to burn off as cleanly as possible. Most synthetics are designed to resist burn-off. This leads to more deposits in the motor.
Speaking of deposits. Rotary engines build-up carbon easier than piston engines and the effects can be more damaging. Controlling the deposits is easy (and fun). High rev's under load burn off deposits quite well, so explore the 9000+ rpm redline whenever it's safe to do so. And take long highway trips (6-8 hours) every year or so if possible. Both of these will really do a good job of controlling deposits in the motor.
Before you buy the car have a Mazda dealership or other rotary specialist do compression and vacuum-leakdown tests to ensure the motor is Ok. And ensure you qualify for the extended motor warranty which was increased to 8 year/100K miles.
The mileage you list for a 2005 is good as "normal" is 15K - 20K miles per year. The price you list might be a bit high, but that depends on many factors, like where you live, condition, etc.

Q: Why is my Mazda RX8 vibrating?
I have a 2005 RX8 and am having trouble with it vibrating. It seems to be worse when the weather is cold. It used to vibrate only when in gear but lately it vibrates even in park or neurtal. You can't feel it while driving, only when stopped. I brought it to the dealer few months ago for a recall and mentioned this and they said nothing was wrong. But something is definetly wrong. I have driven it when it didn't vibrate at all.
A: sounds like the engine has a misfire, it shouldn't cost to much to fix, maybe some new plugs and wires, a good tune it is what it needs.
Q: Trying to decide between 3 cars..some help? Girls especially?
I am 24, finished school, paid off loans, etc, I've always loved cars ever since I was a kid, now it's time to buy my first car, and hopefully something special.
I've narrowed it down to 3 cars, each has pluses and negatives on them. I am having trouble deciding, it's coming down to what other people think of the cars, especially girls. I am not buying off ebay, but using their pics help

A: hands down, i would say the infiniti...if youre ready to settle down and have kids then maybe the acura....... everyone has a mazda and i think they look girly and retarded...........the infiniti has power and style
Q: rx8 airbag help?
today i had an accident in my 2005 mazda rx-8. I hit a patch of black ice and wrapped it around a tree. Am wondering why the driver side airbag didn't deploy (the one in the side of the seat). I hit my head on the window (oww)
A: Hm mm sounds like a lemon take them to court and get some money for that head injury
Q: after market parts for 2005 xterra... *sigh*?
I'm getting all sorts of cool after market things for my husband for his Mazda RX8 that I bought him.
But now I'm getting jealous. I want newthings for my '05 xterra. I have touch nav and a great system in it, but it came with that. I have a custom box for the 10" sub I just replaced.
I used to have a jeep wrangler and I almost want that back so I can do the whole off-road package, but I LOVE my xterra.
Any suggestions?
I already have water proof xterra brand front seat covers, touch screen nav, 2 amps, and 10" sub with custom box
....also, is there a special forum site for xterra owners? I know of rx8club.com for mazda rx8 owners, but what about xterras?
I'm not going to get rims because I'm getting stationed in Alaska soon...
maybe I could get off road tires? but the gas prices today are obnoxious and it already costs $80 to fill up
A: Get the engine block heater and coolant heater system installed so your engine will start when it gets -30 degrees. Weather tech floor and cargo area covers. Ice wiper blades. Alaska is a whole other world. There are several suspension and body lift kits that will give you the ground clearence you'll need for larger tires. PRO-Comp Old Man Emu and Hijacker to name a few. Start now clearing the moisture out of your gasoline system.
Q: Can you help with my car indicator problems?
I have a 2005 UK spec Mazda RX8 231 and for the last 6 months or so I have noticed a very intermittent problem with my indicators.
Firstly when I turn the indicator stalk down (for left) the indicator always works perfectly. However, when I turn the stalk up (for right) the light may flash once or twice and then stop blinking (and clicking) and the indicator won't work.
Sometimes the right indicator is permanently on (even when I have turned engine off and locked the car.) Sometimes the indicator works normally, but when it has a problem it is always the right indicator, never the left.
When I turn the hazard lights on the left indicator is fine and the right is often still not working. When I lock the car the lights flash once to tell me its locked - again the right indicators rarely flash.
Mazda ran a diagnostics (£40) 2 weeks ago to check something else and reported no problems with the indicators (I asked them to have a look.) I took the car to them today as I am fed up with sometimes turning right with no signal. They now want to charge me £50 to diagnose the problem I have (and then probably charge the earth to repair it) any ideas on a diagnosis and potential costs would be geatly appreciated!
A: RX8 Owner, I had similar problems with my Chevrolet Camaro and last month. Try getting a free auto warranty quote and see if you can get the policy before you need to get your car fixed. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Warranty-Quote.html
Q: 2005 mazda rx 8 or 2005 pontiac gto?
If you had to choose between the two, which would you buy?
i like both cars alot but i really cant decide on which one i want to get. im looking for a fast car because i got the need for speed so the gto is very fast at 400 hp compared to the 238 hp of the rx8 but im also looking for overall looks as the rx8 looks better both from the outside and inside and especially with the suicide rear doors.
so help me decide, which do you think is better overall and why?
thanks alot
A: I worked for Mazda and replaced plenty of motors The LS-2 motor is strong and much more dependable. The RX-8 gets around because it weighs so little. The GTO is heavy 3,800 pounds compaired with 2,400 RX. My 2006 GTO flys under the radar even though it is Spice Red It looks like a Grand Am I guess. Holden Made a really good car 13,000 miles and not one warranty problem. My GTO is a six speed with SLP Predatior reprogrammer GMM ripshift gear shifter SLP lould mouth #1 exhaust K&N intake and bigger sway bars. And the brakes at the road racing track are the right size for hot lapping. As for those RX doors they may allow small childern into the back seat you will never use but to throw your lap top in the back seat. I have carried people in my back seat 4 times in 13,000 miles hey there is a ac vent back there. 6 foot tall and 52 years old I don't craw back there often.
Q: Help with my faulty/intermittent car indicator?

I have checked the bulbs visually from outside the car and when the indicators work, they all work perfectly so I don't think a bulb has gone.
A: RX8 Owner, I had similar problems last fall and was glad I got my repairs covered under my extended warranty. extended warranties are if you don't buy them from the manufacturer. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Auto-Warranty.html

so help me decide, which do you think is better overall and what would u get?

A: RX8 if that one is better looking. 238hp will take you way above the speed limits. I love speed too, but you really don't need 400hp when you are street driving. If you were going to be driving on a race track, then you would be better off going with the GTO. Besides, no one is going to know you what's underneath the hood. They are going to see nice ride your cruising around in!
Q: $13,000-$25,000 for my 2nd car?
so ive saved $13,000 and my mom said she will add more after we move to canada, iam 18 years old just finished high school and going to go to college but trying to get a better car first, my top choices so far are either

3-(2004) mazda RX8
4- infinity g35
of course i am not looking for a new car and i have all the prices checked out n i can afford it, and i am not dumb and this will not be my 1st car, i have been driving for a good 3 years now, and have my money for college saved up, the $13,000 is the remaining cash i got from that, and insurance and maintenance is covered by my mom and sis, its their gift to me, so plz help me and let me know, and please also say why i should get the car i get and if anything i should add to my list, thank you again
A: G35
lookf for 03
Q: Think I can get this car price down to $16000?
It's a used 2004 Mazda RX8 the price right now is $16995 which is a pretty damn good deal in the first place but, I'm thinking there might be something up with it heres the link -
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=236226206&dealer_id=57595066&car_year=2004&model=RX8&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&start_year=2003&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=50&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=MAZDA&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=92117&advanced=y&only_photo=1&end_year=2005&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=3
Any chance? And if it's possible how would I go about negotiating or talking the price down? I'm a salesmen myself but, not for cars I know how to communicate well, and close deals for other products but, I have no idea how car dealerships work any advice is appreciated.
A: Yes definitely! Once you have the money in your hand it will be a done deal, trust me!! Just tell them "well I'll give you £16,000 right Now for it" They will only be too happy to have the deal done there and then! Best of luck! Ps: If they say No don't be afraid to walk away, and I'll bet they'll call you back!
Edit~ It looks a right beauty alright!!
Q: Ok easy car question....I think?
Alright so firstly, this will be my first car. Yet I have many driving mileage so its not like im gonna get myself into something that I dont know wtf to do. Im currently looking into a Mazda RX8 and I love this car, only thing my parents probably wont approve because of the 25,000 plus recalls they did on the 04' and some also on the 05' And im begining to think if they even fixed the problem. Also that its a rotary engine and my dad has never worked on one before (hes a mechanic) But he said he likes them. Before that I was looking into a 2005-07 Mustang. Not sure which I like more. Im looking for a good car that can get some attention, comfort, style, room, rare problems, daily drive, couple road trips, and pretty much a nice, safe car that I can enjoy for awhile to come. So any suggestions on what you guys think would be awsome or any cars besides an RX8 or Mustang.
A: Anything Toyota!!! Corolla is great first car.
Q: Which car should I get?
I currently have a 2005 Scion Tc. I've had it for awhile now and I was thinking about selling it and buying another car. I've been looking at the 04 and 05 Mazda RX-8's. I drive to school and work and out a lot on the weekends. A lot of it is highway driving. I was wondering though do you think that since its a rotary engine I will run into a lot of problems and costly repairs? I like the 350Z, but its a little costly for me. Is there any other cars I should look into or do you think the RX8 is a good one?
Thanks.
A: I have an RX8, and it's a great car. No mechanical issues, it's great looking, fast, and dependable. They also have a great resale value.
Q: 2005 mazda rx 8 or 2005 pontiac gto?
If you had to choose between the two, which would you buy?

A: Given your choice, I'd have to go GTO, I'm a big GTO fan from way back. Beside I'm one of those only buy American guys, I earn my $ here in the U.S.A. so I'd do my best to keep it here and get my Fellow American working. The set back with the GTO is, if they are still doing this, there is a yearly gas guzzler tax the government has on muscle cars, so that maybe a factor on you swinging toward the RX8. I say way the pro's and con's on both cars, drive them both, see which one you like the most, cause when it comes right down to it, you will be the one driving the car you buy. Good luck hope you enjoy the car you choose.
