Q: 07 Mazda Rx8 loosing power?
My brothers 2007 Mazda Rx8 was getting serviced one day and when he got it back the car just totally lost all power. the fastest the car would go was 22 mph. We have taken the car to the dealership 3 times in 1 week because they say they fixed the problem, but it just keeps on happening. We think it might be the fuel injection. Whats your opinion?
we do have the warrenty left, but we also took it to the dealership 3 times and they tell us they fixed it but then 10 min after getting it back it looses power.
A: This could be a sign of impending engine failure.
Once the motor warms up and the motor oil thins you could be losing compression and this may be the cause of the lack of power. This is a known issue that is not so much a problem with the motor, but is usually caused by owners who are not knowledgeable about Wankel Rotary engine care.
It can also be caused by a dealership who doesn't know much about these engines as well. If the car has been flooded some dumb mechanic may just keep trying to crank the motor over and over. Since flooding the motor thins the oil the apex seals have little protection and can be damaged by severe over-cranking.
Because of this issue Mazda has increased the core motor warranty to 8 years/100K miles.
Go to your dealership and demand a compression and vacuum leak-down test be done. If the engines fails either test Mazda will replace the motor. Don't let the dealership F you around.
You might want to find a better dealer...too. Make sure they have a specialist trained in rotary engine repair.

A: Who can afford a car that costs as much as a quarter of a great house in some parts of this country still. Don't get me wrong, I have a mazda 2300 pu truck with over 117,000 miles on it and it runs great and all I've ever done is put brakes and oil in it every 3000 miles, but I paid $6,000.00 for it in 1997 with 12,000 miles on it. Today you can get a Kia with a great warranty for far less money or look a little harder for a Mazda. Believe it or not Overstock.com sells used cars. Ebay sells used cars and I'm sure there are many other sites.Remember if a deal is to good to be true,it usually is. By the way I know where you can purchase an 84 Vet for $6000.00. my son is 18,what is a good budget and good car. my son likes these.toyota mr2 mitsubishi fto mazda mx5 or rx8 toyota supra honda crx chevrolet corvette are any of these good and what about 4 door saloons he could get a 2001 passat.i was thinking of 5 thousand pounds as a budget that would be about 10 thousand dollars. all these cars are under 5 thousand pounds the car he gets will be used and will be older than 2007 model if it is a sports car all the cars i am saying you can get for under 5000 is from autotrader my sonand i both will be looking at this and be editing it.
